Massachusetts School Building Authority
MURSD has been accepted into the MSBA Accelerated Repair Program
The MSBA is a state authority that partners with Massachusetts communities to support school building projects. For MURSD specifically:
Initial Steps:
In Spring 2023, MURSD submitted a Statement of Interest to the MSBA for their Accelerated Repair Program (ARP)
The school district was one of 70 proposals from 37 districts across Massachusetts to be considered
Project Approval:
In October 2024, MURSD was accepted into the MSBA Accelerated Repair Program specifically for the Nipmuc Roof project
This program focuses on energy-efficient and cost-saving upgrades that will result in direct operational savings
Current Status:
December 2024: MURSD approved funding for roof schematic design and formed a building committee
January 2025: The district submitted additional information to MSBA
The project must be treated as a stand-alone warrant item, separate from the broader capital projects.
Financial Impact:
While the district must request the full amount under the debt exclusion, the MSBA will provide significant reimbursement for the Nipmuc roof repair costs
This reimbursement will substantially reduce the final amount the district needs to borrow
MSBA Process
MURSD has completed Module 1 and Module 2. We have been assigned an OPM and design team and we are in the Module 4 step.
